an unplayable game?!
"A short but thoughtful exercise in accessible game design.... For players and developers alike, I can highly recommend An Unplayable Game"
-Marijn Rongen, "Can I Play That?!" Indie Spotlight

a game about accessibility settings that's just a *bit* too hard for you to play effectively.
10-15 minutes in length with 30+ minutes of developer commentary!
Controls
| Mouse | Point-and-Click |
| Gamepad (Virtual Cursor) | Either stick to move cursor Bottom face button to click |
Note: you need to use the in-game controller to control the game on the in-game TV!
A short game about the importance of accessibility.
This game explores the impact of accessibility settings through a short, playable experience, forcing players to confront exactly how it feels... to play an unplayable game.
"an unplayable game?!" is not a typical platformer. It is designed to test your understanding of movement mechanics, turning every jump into a micro-puzzle... to complete it, you'll have to rely on problem-solving instead of dexterity.
Aggressively human.
Proudly made over the course of 140+ hours of human effort, this game contains NO generative AI output, and AI was not used in any capacity during the game's construction.
This is my first solo game, and that's important to me. I made it, I made uncountable decisions to bring it into existence, and so I documented it...
...with over 30 minutes of developer commentary.
~25 commentary tracks, totaling over 30 minutes, spread across the game to give players a peek behind the curtain during their second playthrough. Tracks go over the how and why I made "an unplayable game?!", firmly anchoring the human artistry into the game itself.

This game is really awesome.
The first run of the game really impacted me with some aspects of accessibility that I've never thought. The second run, listening to the developer comments, was a window to a very human and warm process of making the game and knowing its creator. Made me think of the things that I enjoy the most about programming and how counterproductive wanting to do everything on my own can be. May sound silly, but I never thought about the joy that asset creators may feel if I use their resources.
Thanks a lot, I really needed to play this game. You should be proud of your creation.
im glad you enjoyed it!!! i'm honestly so surprised by how many people are enjoying the commentary, i mainly included it as a personal thing so i'm FLOORED that people are even talking about it
on the topic of assets, i think what eventually clicked for me is seeing SO MANY assets on itchio where the creators ask that you comment about your game if you use the assets. that's so sweet, they just want to see your stuff, and see how they helped you! thats so cool imo, its so collaborative :)
thank you for saying my game is nice
but I truly have no idea how to respond to that video
